Choose the correct answer.

Which of the following are needed for the germination of a seed?
A. Moisture, light, temperature, and air
B. Moisture, light, and air
That's Correct!
It's Wrong!

In order to germinate, a seed must have adequate moisture, the right amount of light, a correct temperature which is not too hot or too cold, and oxygen, or air. If a seed has all of these conditions, then the cause of germination failure is usually due to poor seed quality.

On the other hand, if a seed does not have the correct temperature, it will not germinate. Usually this temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees. However, certain plants, like lettuce, prefer colder temperatures and others, like peppers, prefer warmer temperatures.
